Indian Cooking Recipe : How to Make Palak Subzi

Ingredients for the Recipe

  • ½ kg potatoes
  • 2 bunches amaranth leaves/
  • spianch leaves
  • 3 tsp oil
  • 1 tsp channa dal
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp chilli powder
  • Salt to taste
  • ½ tsp cummin seeds
  • 5 curry leaves

Recipe (How to Make):

  1. Pressure cook the potatoes with their skin, peel, mash and set aside.
  2. Wash the spinach or amaranath leaves and chop fine.
  3. Heat 3 tsp oil, add the mustard seeds and the curry leaves.
  4. When the mustard seeds splutter, add the cummin seeds, channadal and saute for a couple of minutes.
  5. Add the chopped spinach and sprinkle water.
  6. Cover on a low heat tilll the spinach is tender and dry.
  7. Add to the mashed potatoes, turmeric powder, salt and chilli powder. Mix well.
  8. Cook for a minute, till everything blends well.
  9. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
